Are the RAF likely to accept aircrew candidates having had LASIK or PRK eye surgery in the near future?
I am a member of the UAS and all I have ever wanted to do is become an RAF fast jet pilot. I am slightly short sighted which disqualifies me from applying to OASC for aircrew. This is extremely frustrating for me. If LASIK or PRK surgery was accepted then I would take it immediately. Since the USAF and NASA have both agreed that if successful, it will be fine for aircrew, and are actually encouraging some of there current pilots to take the procedure to enhance their abilities. Does anyone know if th RAF are likely to allow candidates for aircrew to have the LASIK or PRK procedures prior to entry?

Can I have PRK eye surgery at 17??????
I have had glasses for 9 years give or take 1 or 2 years I don't remember how old I was when I got them. . I am 16 and my prescription has been stable for a year so far. When I turn 17 it will have been stable for 2 years. Will I be able to have PRK Photorefractive Keratectomy when I am 17? I can't do LASIK because I want to join the US Army and LASIK can be undone by physical strain the flap on your eye comes off but PRK there is no flap so it can't come undone.

I have done some reading on this procedure and seem to favor it more than Lasik because you dont cut the eye. My concerns are the halos and start bursts, are there any specific reasons why that happens? PRK seems like a batter deal to me because i have heard some bad stuff about Lasik and the machines breaking. If anyone has had PRK done for at least a year tell me about it or anything you know. I want first hand accounts of this stuff so i can know what i might be getting into.
