Becoming an ophthalmologist in Canada?
I am just about to graduate from grade 12 in Canada and I am really considering becoming an ophthalmologist and I was just wondering if anybody could answer some questions that I have 1. What kind of marks are they looking for?2. I start by going to University, but what do I start taking and where do I go from there. what type of schooling is required 3. If I work hard and get good marks, what are the chances that I would be accepted?
A question for ophthalmologists/surgeons *Please read!*?
I have suffered from strabismus my entire life. I am absolutely desperate to get it fixed. I am a senior in college web design and development and just barely scrape along financially. I also do not have health insurance. I have spent countless hours researching the internet trying to find a solution to my affliction, but alas, to no avail.Like many nights, last night I laid in bed trying to figure out a way to get my strabismus taken care of. The only somewhat plausible solution I could think of is offering my professional expertise in exchange for treatment. As I mentioned before, I am enrolled for web design and development and I am quite good at what I do designing, developing, and maintaining websites and databases . So, basically, my question is are there any ophthalmologists and or surgeons that would consider my professional services as payment for treating my strabismus? I have no clue how practical this epiphany of mine is, but I figure making attempts at figuring out a solution is better than not doing anything at all.If you are an ophthalmologist surgeon reading this post, by all means, let me know if this is too far fetched.Thank you for your replies in advance I am in the U.S. Wisconsin
Do ophthalmologists do eye exams and contact lens exams?
I know that that's generally in the realm of what optometrists do, but generally, do they do contact lens exams? I'm a bit paranoid about optometrists since they don't have MDs
What is the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?
I know that ophthalmologists have an MD and they go for ophthalmology afterwards, whereas an optometrist gets a separate degree. But what does that translate to when it comes to clinical practice?
Question to an ophthalmologist?
HelloI have a problem with glasses recommended recently, i have astigmatism of something like 5 in each eye But with the glasses i see some grades that distort a bit the vision images at the end of the message , this is the third time that i get this kind of glasses with that distortion, when i stop to use it, i still seeing distorted, im worried about a permanent damage... the ophthalmologist said that is because the astigmatism and some curvature of the light. Where do I get a referral letter in order to see the ophthalmologist?
So I wanted to see this ophthalmologist in some Ophthalmology Clinic but when I called in for an appointment, the receptionist said I need a referral letter in order for me to make an appointment with the eye specialist. I have no idea where to go to get this referral letter? Do I have to go to like another hospital and see another doctor for the referral letter or what? I don't get it? This is the first time seeing an ophthalmologist so I have no clue?
Is it possible to skip the 6 month wait and pay to see an ophthalmologist in Canada?
I'm a student right now and last visited my ophthalmologist about a month ago.What he gave me unfortunately didn't work and now I'm trying to book a second appointment.The first time I waited 6 months for my appointment so I assume I need to wait another 6 months for a second. I just got back from my ophthalmologist and as usual, they dilated my eyes. That was about 2 hours ago....?
...any idea how long it takes for them to become un dilated?Just curious, any idea how those drops work to stimulate dilation?
