I believe you have to be at least 18 to have the surgery, but the most important thing is that your vision has to be stabilized for at least two years. If you are nearsighted, then you can expect your eyes to stabilize during your 20s. I would suggest that you keep up with your annual check-ups to track your prescription accurately, and once there has been no change in a couple of years, you can consider it safe to proceed with the lasik. |

I highly doubt they'd operate on you being so young, but maybe when you're older? ask you doctor if you're even a good candidate. i'm 17 and was thinking about getting it because i'm sick of wearing contacts/ glasses and he wouldn't reccommend me for it, which frustrated me hah. maybe try the contacts that you sleep in for a month (that's what i have) they're a whole lot better than wearing glasses!! |

No, you can't. The reason is because your eyes are still changing and they don't want to make a change knowing full well that it won't be right in 5 years. I assume you've looked into contacts (both soft and gas perm). There's also a thing called orthokeratology (ortho-k) which is where you wear lenses at night to shape you cornea so you don't need lenses during the day. This is most effective for people with minor to moderate nearsightedness. Good luck. |

I've been wearing glasses for over 10 years, and i really hate it too. i was considering lasik as well, but since im still young (age 21), i wanted to wait a bit til i get lasik because im afraid the of the mess ups (even though its like 1%). but since your 14, i think you should wait til your older because every part of your body is still growing up. plus, you dont want the chances of a bad eye doctor, and lose ur sight at age 14. how bout trying contacts in the meantime? |

No you can't get it at 14, I'm almost 20 and I'm still not able to get it. Your eyes need to fully grow and stop changing before they should operate. Everyones eyes are different so you should talk to your optomitrist about the growth of your eye and get an estimate from them about when they estimate that your eyes will be finished changing. I know my eyes grew later in life (I got my first pair of glasses at 14) and my optomitrist thinks I'll be able to get the surgery when I'm 25. If your tired of having glasses then talk to your optomitrist to see if your eyes are good candidates for contacts. Some eyes are really sensitive and dry but others are perfect to get them. That way you wouldn't have to wear glasses and be able to see they way you did when you were a kid. I hope my advise helped! |

Yes you can have lasik but, you're going to need parental consent. |

No. You are too young. If you hate glasses, use contacts. Wait til you are 18, then go see a lasik doctor. Even then, they might not allow you to take it up cause your prescription is still not stable enough Comprehensive Guide to Lasik Surgery in Singapore lasiksg.com |
