(Posted by: Sarko on 2008-05-27 18:19:13)
I am 15 years old, my eyesight is not that bad, i can play sports without glasses, i only use it for reading, watching TV and if i ever drive. i was planning on getting Lasik in the Future. i saw stories in the news and on the web of complications, like jermaine dupri getting blind, tiger woods having post lasik problems and a pilot who won a $4 mil. dollar lawsuit because he lost his job due to LASIK complications. DO YOU GUYS THINK BY THE TIME I AM 25 THERE WILL BE A SAFER CURE TO NEARSIGHTEDNESS? i would never risk my eyesight, i am waiting for something better than LASIK. thanks. |

Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America. Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/ UK trained and facilities are 5 star. indianhealthguru.com Hope this helps. |

I'm 28 and when I was about 19, I went in for laser eye surgery. According to the doc, my astigmatism was so bad, they couldn't do LASIK, they had to do PRK. While prepping me for surgery, they put numbing drops in... then... and here's the weird part... the doc used a BIC pen to mark my eyes. He pressed the point of the pen onto the top and bottom of the colored part of my eye while I sat up in a chair. He said this was to mark my eye so it would align with the laser when I laid down below the laser. I was like whatever... trusted them too much. What an idiot I was! Long story short, I got corneal abrasions in BOTH eyes from this marking with the BIC pen because I flinched each time they did it cause it freaked me out to have someone pressing on my eye with a frickin pen! I asked for money back as soon as they told me about the abrasions.... and yes... they gave it back no questions asked. The place I went to was in Brookfield, WI... don't remember the name of it. Beware... that's all I gotta say! Now my left eye is still a bit funky from it. |
