Laser Eye Operation

Question: I'm short sighted. my eye power is -5.0, can i take laser eye operation therapy?

Laser eye surgery to remove errors of refraction (LASIK) was first developed and used for near-sighted individuals (myopics) such as yourself. For as long as you will qualify as a candidate for LASIK, and pass the qualifying tests (i.e. stable refractive error for at least a year, at least 18 years of age, with no or controlled dry-eye syndrome and enough corneal tissue to work with). You can go for the procedure. It would be best to see an ophthalmologist so you can discuss further. One of the most important things that a LASIK candidate must have is a realistic expectation of the results of the procedure.

You may have to repeat the surgery a couple of times to get it right but ask the clinic.

If you have a a thick enough cornea, Lasik may be able to help you. Check with a qualified Lasik surgeon. Your prescription is bad, but not as bad as some who have had successful surgery. I was -7.00 in both eyes, with a mild astigmatism. I had the surgery a little over a month ago and am now seeing better than I have ever seen in my life!! 20/ 20 in both eyes.
